Phantom frequencies
A multi-channel installation in development, built around interference, resonance, cancellation, room modes, and the sounds that appear between intended signals.

Multi-channel installation | 2025 | Duration: variable (in development)
Built around interference, resonance, cancellation, and room modes, the installation remains in development.
Phantom frequencies are the tones that appear when those systems meet in space - through cancellation, through room modes, through interaction that was never designed.
The piece treats what a source leaves behind as compositional material: room tone, reinforcement, and frequencies produced when playback systems meet the room.
Current development notes:
- Room tone as composition
- Interference patterns between multiple sound sources
- The resonant frequencies of empty spaces
- What remains when the primary signal is removed
Early experiments use multiple speakers positioned to create zones of cancellation and reinforcement, so listeners can move through different acoustic territories.
